RECENT
ACTIVITIES, EVENTS AND CHARITABLE GIVING |
|
|
|
During and since the transition to our new facilities, the
LCHA has engaged in numerous exciting and important activities
which have enhanced the organization’s ability to network within
the community as well as provide significant funding for those
in need both here and in Lebanon. Here is a sampling: |

In 2005, the list of prestigious recipients of the annual
Lifetime Achievement Award saw two luminous women take front and
centre stage. Joining Ernest Saykaly, Bill Lawand, Adel Elian,
Albert Aziz, Nagib Scaff, Mark Kaneb, Ron Simon, Jim Hindley,
Senator Marcel Prud’homme and Emile Courey were Evelyn Farha and
Vivan Saykaly. The Lifetime Achievement Awards is the LCHA’s
flagship event. Each year, at a banquet dinner, we acknowledge
men and women whose leadership, dedication and philanthropy
benefit our cultural community.
|
Over twenty years and still going strong. Maybe not as
many players in the first years but always a highlight on the
activities calendar of the LCHA and one of the main funding
events for our Alexander Shatilla Scholarship Fund. The 2007 tournament raised
close to $8,000, a part of which went towards UNICEF’s post-war
relief effort in Lebanon.

More than just delicious food, there is always great “food
for thought” at our popular and often lively business luncheons
and meetings. Here is a sample of recent events:

the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, presented by Professor Henry
Habib.
|
In conjunction with the McGill School of Social Work and
Heritage Canada, the LCHA staged the first-ever demographic
study on the social, educational and economic status of the
Canadian-Lebanese community in Quebec. Results of the study
have assisted our association as well as other Lebanese
organizations to identify focused areas of need and subsequently
improved our ability to effectively earmark charitable efforts.
|
Recent social get-togethers have provided a relaxed way to
mix with our friends in the community. We’d love to do more!
With your support, we can.
|

Kid’s
Christmas Party
With monies raised though our Underprivileged Children’s

tree for 50 impoverished children in our community. Every year
this is a highlight that warms our hearts and touches our souls
and is a privilege to host.

In conjunction with the Christmas Party, twenty $100 food
